alternate solution to N-gage system error

hey guys,

as u may already know, one solution for the n-gage system error is removing apostrophees from your access point names.

i have the nokia 5320xm fw4.13... i recently had this problem but the apostrophee solution didn't work for me so here's wat i did.......

1)downloaded n-gage application to my PC from n-gage site
2)backed up phone data on my mem. card (usin phone's file manager)
3)formated phone usin *#7370#

at this point, PC Suite told me that there were no apps installed in the fone (Nokia Application Installer) n i had bout 120Mb free on phone memory

4)BEFORE restoring phone data, i installed the newly downloaded n-gage app (i used mass storage mode but Nokia Application Installer shud b ok)
5)restored phone data from mem. card

n-gage app workin perfectly now without "system error"

Phoenix (Internal) 2009.12 - Improved Setup

I decided to drop the old installer and create something more flexible. Changelog:

- works with Windows 7/Vista (32 bit) - as of Win7 RC1,
- you can install Phoenix Internal during setup,
- you can uninstall Phoenix via Control Panel or Start Menu icon,
- setup loads much faster (due to reduced compression ratio),
- reduced (even more) risk of installation problems,

I am pretty sure I have covered all the goals I was facing when I started to release Phoenix. I will concentrate on updating Phoenix to latest versions.

Python for S60 1.9.6 for all s60

Python for S60 1.9.6

This release runs on S60 3rd edition, S60 3rd edition FP1, S60 3rd edition FP2 and S60 5th edition devices.

The release includes:
- Installer for Windows platform that includes
----- Getting started guide
----- Nocs signed PyS60 runtime sis which will work on S60 3rdEd, 3rdEdFP1, 3rdEdFP2 and 5thEd devices.
----- Two Nocs signed default capability set PythonScriptShell sis files.
----- Nocs signed high capas PythonScriptShell sis. This sis file comes with higher capabilities than self signed (SwEvent, WriteDeviceData, ReadDeviceData)
----- Unsigned developer certificate PythonScriptShell sis. This sis file can be used for Symbian signing.
----- Application packaging tool with GUI and README
----- Python HTML documentation updated with S60 module reference
- Separate SDK zips for 3rdEdFP1 and 3rdEdFP2. SDK zip contains both gcce and armv5 link libraries. Python 3rdEdFP2 SDK zip will work fine on S60 3rdEd and 5thEd
- OpenC SDK plugin for 3rdEd devices. This zip file needs to be extracted on top of Python 3rdEdFP2 SDK zip to get Python working on S60 3rdEd SDK.
- Python source code
- OpenSSL source code. This source code is released just to be in complaint with the terms of LGPL licensed software. This source code is
nothing to do with PyS60 software.

What is new when compared with PyS60 1.9.5?
- Support for a virtual 4-way directional pad is added for Canvas and text
widgets. This D-Pad is displayed at the bottom of the screen and this
feauture is enabled by default on touch enabled devices. Currently, this is
supported only in the portrait mode and landscape support will be available
in a future release.
The 'full_max' mode is invalidated by this change and is removed in this
release.

- The modules in the base runtime is more refined and hence the size of
application SIS, created using PyS60 Application Packager is reduced.

- A new chapter is added in the PyS60 documentation (Extending and Embedding
PyS60), that is an end-to-end tutorial for creating 3rd party extention
modules and distributing them.

Corrected defects:
3223 - Floating point formatting/parsing routines on this platform are imprecise
4078 - socket.access_points() returns iapid 0 for lots of entries
4106 - Problems exiting standalone apps
4185 - Calendar module returns end time with time zone offset added to Unix time
4186 - Using rollback in calendar module returns error
4198 - Screen orientation remains landscape after exit, while device was
portrait all the time
4215 - default.py cannot load .pyc files
4216 - sys.exit() doesn't exit Python

How to change product code and do firmware update example N79

How to change product code and do firmware update example N79

Hey guys, I got the N79 with firmware 11.049. Now the new firmware is available and I wanted to install it, but it’s not available for my product code. I don’t want to wait for Nokia. We all know how long nokia takes to release the firmwares.

So I flashed my phone with Pheonix, changed the product code and updated my phone to the new firmware.

Here’s how to do it:

First you’ll need the newest version of Pheonix Service software form this link
http://rapidshare.com/files/258159131/Phoenix_2009.20.exe

If you can’t install this version (like I did) you can try an older version and then the new one.
This method worked for me with Vista.

If you got a RM 348 Phone (my N79) you need this file
http://rapidshare.com/files/23297862...0.175_v5.0.exe
and install it.

Make a backup of your data.

- Start Pheonix
- Click on file – manage connections – new – usb
- Apply this change and close

- Click again on file – scan for product – your phone should be mentioned
in the lower box

- Choose Flashing – Firmware update – choose a product code and click
refurbish – wait until the update is done

I don't garanty that you can't harm your phone, it is your phone, yo decide what you want to do.

Have fun!! __________________

1) Set all smart for 9.h;
2) Added configuration files for all the smart screen 240h320, nothing anyone does not have to manually put simply install and play;
3) Integrated patch from the bar "Trial."( "TRIAL");

#HOT# Hack Newest Firmwares N97, 5730, E75, N86 Etc

Some latest Nokia's firmwares are designed to prevent user from hacking (opening platform security) their phone. The changes seemed to have successfully interfere with HelloOx operation, thus rendering our device unhackable.

I've just found out this new method from neighborhood forum and some folks have already confirmed this hack works on following devices:
Nokia N79 v30.011.051.1
Nokia 6220c v5.15
Nokia E75 v110.48.125
Nokia N97 v11.0.021.209.04* (tnx to leetut & takt29)
Nokia E71 v300.21.012 (tnx to frastgr)
Nokia N78 v30.011 (tnx to andre128)
Nokia 5730XM v100.48.122 (tnx to Vampiro1306)

While some others ARE reported unhackable by this method

Confirmed doesn't work with:
Nokia N96 v30 (Thanks to ugur35)

KNOWN ISSUES:
Several users have reported that they were unable to install any application after the hack applied. the solution is to disable SWIPOLICYPATH patch in ROMPatcher. (tnx to andre128)
On Nokia N97 v11.0.021.209.04, Rompatcher patches c2z and SwitchOFFRestart cannot be enabled (tnx to takt29)

The list above is generated from member feedback, should you found any wrong information, please reply to this thread or pm me.

FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION EXACTLY AS IT WAS WRITTEN

USE ONLY THE ATTACHED FILES, THE ATTACHED FILES ARE ALREADY SPECIFICALLY MODIFIED TO COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING HACKING STEPS

What you'll need to provide yourself:
Certificate with 17 capabilities
Signer to sign the sisx file
Decent 3rd party filemanager
Install your favourite file manager; X-plore & Y-Browser are recommended (skip this step if you already have it installed).
Sign & Install Mapdrives
Sign & Install ROMPatcher
Sign & Install Y_browser or X-plore
Run Mapdrives (Mapdrives will map drive A:\ to c:\sys\bin with rw access!)
Uninstall Mapdrives
Put files under "Copy_to_A" folder to A:\
Restart your device
Open ROMPatcher, apply open4all.rmp, ChangeSWIpolicyPath.rmp* & Installserver_FP2.rmp
HACKED (if you're lucky enough, if you aren't

if you see errors when doing steps above, you will need to copy installserver.exe from drive Z:\sis\bin\installserver.exe to C:\sis\bin\installserver.exe manually.

ALL CREDIT TO abgnokia,

Please confirm whether this hack is working on your phone, instead of spewing "does this work on my blah blah".

Make sure you include your complete firmware version number.
I'll update the hackable list periodically.

Hack Phone With Only One .sisx

HACK the phone with one SISX ..

Firstly this hack works on the new firmwares [os 9.3 FP2 phones]. However, it should work with all firmwares now hackable. All other similar devices are already present on the forum but the point of my message is to offer the fastest available ******** for the symbia OS. Just download the attachment only for binpda hacking kit and your phone is ready to be hacked in 2 minutes. Even all installserver.exe for all phones are included in this single file. So you do not move the files here and there with xplore. No more errors in the certificate, no more license expired. Just install any file, even if the signature or certificate expired ... During installation choose the server installation according to your phone .. As seen in sceenshot or to choose 3 files.
* Binpda Security Manager
* Installserver.exe [as telephone]
* Capsoff driver [as telephone]

Nokia Firmware Debranding

Basically, this guide will run you through the proceedure of removing the firmware restriction that is often put on Nokia contract handsets. After you have finished, you will be able to update to the latest vanilla flavoured Nokia firmware, without any ugly operator logos or backgrounds.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heads Up!
This will only work on handsets with user upgradable firmware. Check these sites to see if your phone is in the list.

* Nokia - Asia Pacific
* Nokia - North America
* Nokia - Latin America
* Nokia - Europe

Warning: This process will void your warranty, wave goodbye to it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Disclaimer:
I provide this information with no guarantees. I wrote this guide based on work by other people, so it would be easier to understand for everyone, I take no credit for the actual discovery of this method. This information has been tried and tested by various other people with success. I accept no responsibility for any loss direct or otherwise.
*

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Background:
Every Nokia handset is produced with a product code. The product code is a 7 digit number begining with 05 (I.E 0536075). These 7 digits codes are made up of 4 different pieces of information.
* The Model. (N95, N76 etc.)
* The Appearance. (Black, Plum, Red etc.)
* The Language/Region it was created for. (France, UK etc.)
* The network that customised it. (T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange etc.)

The problem exists, that while a phone has a product code stating it is locked to a network, it will only accept that networks firmware. For example a N76 is locked to Vodafone, and while it had its original product code, it will only accept Vodafone firmware. What we intend to do, is change the product code, and trick the phone into thinking it is operator free and unlocked, so the Nokia Software Updater will apply which firmware you like.

As long as you chose a product code for the same model without an operator lock, it will be fine. You can use one with a different colour or location, it does not matter. So you could use a product code for a Red N76 from Asia, for a Black N76 from the UK

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

What You Need:

Nokia software Updater (NSU)
Nemesis Service Suite
GSM Magic (aka TNT Enforcer)

Nokia Software Updater (NSU) - This is an application from nokia that allows users to update the firmware on their handsets without taking it to a service center. You can grab this application from one of the locations I posted above.

Nemesis Service Suite - This is the application that will do all the tricky work. You can get hold of the latest version from HERE.

or

or

or

or

http://www.4shared.com/file/72173617/249be24e/Nemesis_Service_Suite_Beta_103814.html?s=1

or

http://rapidshare.com/files/143721789/NSS_V1.0.38_MAY_08.zip.html

GSM Magic (a.k.a TNT Enforcer) - This is a handy little application that allows you to click on greyed out or disabled buttons in any application. For some reason this programme has become known as GSM Magic but is actually called TNT enforcer. You can grab it HERE

(Update at the time of writing I believe that the NSS has been changed under version 1.0.38.12 such that TNT Enforcer is not required. you may want to download it anyway to be sure.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Proceedure:

01 - Assuming that all of the above has been downloaded and installed...

Backup your Data!!!! Note the pcsuite and other nokia backup solutions will regard your unbranded handset as different from your branded one. so you will only be able to restore the data that you could to another handset, claendar, contacts, bookmarks etc. You will have to change the settings yourself.

02 - Connect your phone via the appropriate cable.

03 - Wait for windows to install all the necessary drivers. (Make sure Nokia PC Suite is closed)

04 - Launch Nemesis Service Suite

05 - Click the "'Scan for new device", upper right of window.

06 - Click the "Phone Info" button on the main toolbar.

07 - Click the "Scan" button on in the right of the new pane.

08 - (If required,) Launch TNT Enforcer (Without closing NNS)

09 - Click the enable text so it turns green.

10 - Enter your chosen product code (Discussed below)in the "Product Code" box and tick "enable"

11 - Press the "Write" button.

12 - The phone's product code is now changed

13 - Conirm this by reconnecting to NSS

14 - You now simply have to close the open programmes and run the NSU, when the phone reboots it will have the new, unbranded firmware!!!

15 - You can now restore your data

16 - Launch Nokia Software Updater and update to your lovely new Nokia Firmware

Should the worst happen and your phone fail to boot with your new firmware it's not all over. It's likely that you have used a product code that isn't compatible with your hardware. With many phones (symbian phones, 6120, N Series, E Series etc.) it is now possible to restore them to their original out of the box condition. To do this we use something called the 3 keys technique. This technique should only be used to reset a phone when no other method is available. This is a Hard reset.

To reset using the three keys technique power off the phone, hold down thegreen call key, the number '3' key and the star '*' key. Then power on the phone. follow the on screen instructions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Product Codes:

Now, finding an appropriate product code is the hard part.I'll list below all the product codes that i can but a good solution is to simply Google something like 'Nokia [model] unbranded product code' in my experience the best search term is:
nokia [model] "unbranded" OR "generic" "product code" OR "productcode"

Try searching for the following terms:
* Nokia [Model] Unbranded ie;(Nokia N95 Unbranded)
* Nokia [Model] Product Code ie;(Nokia 6630 Product Code)
* Nokia [Model] Productcode ie;(Nokia N91 Productcode)
* Nokia [Model] Generic ie;(Nokia N76 Generic)

Hopefully this should turn up a few websites where people have posted product codes.

Hope this helps.

N95 Product Code FAQs and how to change your product code [all debranding]

ou guys always talk about changing product codes on your N95s - why do I want to do this and how do I do it?

What IS the product code on my N95? Aren't they all RM-159 devices?

RM-159 is indeed the phone type for the N95 (standard). However the reason for different product codes is to enable a way for the phones, networks, update tools and other interested parties to know which network / country / version of the N95 you have. Each network has it's own product code. Each colour variant has it's own product code. Each language pack has it's own product code. There are many of them...

So why do I want to change the product code on my N95?

When Nokia release a new firmware, they tend to release it for the generic, vanilla, unbranded handsets only. Network / operator branded handsets don't see the same firmwares released at the same time, as the firmwares have to go to the networks and be branded / altered, then tested, then released. This means that network branded versions of firmwares generally aren't available for at least 2 months after the generic ones are released.

How can I find out the product code of my N95?

The product code for your N95 is written on the phone's ID sticker, which lives under the battery. The code is a 7 digit number and usually starts with a 0.

So I can use any product code, right?

NO NO NO NO NO!
You have to be very careful about which product code you use. N95 and N95 8GB codes enable completely different software builds, which may result in lots of problems on your phone due to hardware differences between them. You should only use a code which you know will be OK on your phone. (Generally, most people will want to use a EURO1 code, or other language pack generic code) This thread has a comprehensive listing of N95 and N95 8GB product codes.

This is legal, right? Does this affect my warranty in any way?
While it is legal to change the product code of your phone, it DOES void your warranty with Nokia (and your network) as you have altered the phone from the way it was configured when you purchased the phone.

So will I still get support for my N95?
Generally, yes. Most Nokia service centres (certainly in the UK) won't mind that you've changed the product code. However, as a rule of thumb, should you need support for your phone, it's a good idea to ensure you change the phone back to it's real product code before seeking support.
Nokia (UK) WILL NOT repair phones with the wrong product codes, so if your phone is being sent to Nokia it is very important that the code is correct. Obviously this could be a problem if your phone is completely dead and can't be accessed - your first point of contact in this case should be to talk to your local Nokia service centre and tell them that you need the product code changed back.

OK, I've taken all that in...so how do I actually change this product code?
To change the product code on your N95 you will need the freely available Nemesis Service Suite, which can be downloaded from http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk/index.php...153d6b1cea5975

(screenshots coming soon)
1) Install NSS onto your computer. The latest versions work with both windows xp and vista.
2) Connect your N95 to your computer, via USB, in PC Suite mode.
3) Launch NSS.
4) Click on the magnifying glass in the top right of the NSS window. This should then detect your phone and bring up it's info.
5) When your phone has been found, click on the Phone Info button and wait for it to read more info from your phone.
6) Now click on the Read button on the right hand side of the screen. You will see the phone's product code, H/W code, manufacturing date and IMEI number displayed.
7) Choose the product code you want to use (remember the codes for the N95 classic are different to the 8Gb). Generally, the EURO1 code should meet most people's needs.
8) Overtype the product code with the one you have chosen from the Product Codes thread (see above)
9) Tick the Enable box and then press Write
Your product code has now been changed. You can quit NSS and now open Nokia Software updater to update your phone in the normal manner.
